By the Apply Stage, education begins to look towards what comes next. Young people are developing greater independence, making decisions about their future and beginning to apply the knowledge, skills and interests they have developed throughout their education.

Our Apply Stage is designed to give home-educated young people meaningful opportunities to continue learning, gain recognised achievements, complete substantial independent work and develop the confidence and skills they will take with them beyond DHECH.

Families at the Apply Stage can access our Integrative Education Diploma - an Ofqual recognised suite of Level 2 Qualifications (GCSE Equivalent). Our most recent cohort of young people all gained a Pass with Merit or Distinction in their Independent Project Module. We are very proud of them! We are offering 6 modules that can be completed over a two year period and each module is a Level 2 qualification in itself. Young people can complete single modules or all six!

At this stage, we're not interested in creating a single pathway that every young person has to follow. The Apply Stage is about having opportunities to put their skills into practice while still having the relationships and community around them that have always been central to DHECH.

Our provision runs Wednesdays to Fridays at locations in and around Durham City. We recommend that young people complete their Maths and English GCSEs at home or college alongside our Integrative Education Diploma.
