The Wonder Stage is the beginning of the DHECH journey, a gentle, playful stage where children can explore, create, move, make friends and begin building confidence as learners.

At this age, we believe there should still be plenty of space for play and wonder. Children don't need to rush towards the next stage; they need opportunities to become curious about the world, feel secure within a community and discover the things they enjoy.

Across 2026/7, families joining us at the Wonder Stage can access:

• Art with Turpentyne Fine Art Classes & Art Supply

• Arts Awards with Turpentyne Fine Art Classes & Art Supply

• Waldorf Holistic Workshops with Anthea Stock

• Spanish with Lingotot Durham

• Literacy Foundations with Playful Learning Collective Captain Raggy Beard and Creative Kitchen

• Active Arithmetic with Anthea Stock

• Community Games with Sammy

• STEM Club with Playful Learning Collective

• Wonder Science with The Curiosity Lab

• Ocean Science with The Sea we See

• Choir Foundations with Una

• Play Club with Sammy

• Céilí Club with Tyneside Irish Dance

• Project Challenge Packs

• IXL Maths, English and Science

• AQA Unit Awards

• Community events and celebrations

• Theatre Trips at Sunderland Empire and Gala Durham

Our provision runs Wednesdays to Fridays at locations in and around Durham City, and families can build a programme that works for their child rather than needing to attend everything.

If you're looking for a community where your child can learn, play and grow alongside other home-educated children, we'd love to welcome you. Email Una for further information ceo@durhamhomeedcommunityhub.com
