The Think Stage is a time of growing independence. Young people are beginning to think more deeply about their interests, their ideas and themselves, while becoming increasingly capable of taking responsibility for their own learning.

Our Think Stage gives young people opportunities to explore subjects in greater depth, develop practical and academic skills, take on meaningful responsibilities and begin shaping an educational pathway that reflects their individual strengths and interests.

Families at the Think Stage can access:

• Art with Turpentyne Fine Art Classes & Art Supply

• Arts Awards with Turpentyne Fine Art Classes & Art Supply

• Physics, Biology and Chemistry with The Curiosity Lab

• Global Awareness (History and Geography) with Darren

• Project Skills (Project Management, Research Skills and Digital Skills) with The Curiosity Lab, Darren and Derianna

• 11+ Socials

• Think Science with The Curiosity Lab

• Céilí Club with Tyneside Irish Dance

• Senior Youth Leaders

• IXL Maths, English and Science

• AQA Unit Awards

• Community events and celebrations

• Theatre Trips at Sunderland Empire and Gala Durham

At this stage, young people can begin to make more purposeful choices about where they want to spend their time and what they would like to develop.

There is space to pursue interests, work towards recognised achievements, take on responsibility and build the skills they'll need for increasingly independent learning, while remaining part of a consistent community of other home-educated young people.

Our provision runs Wednesdays to Fridays at locations in and around Durham City.

If you're looking for a community where your young person can continue to learn, grow and discover what comes next, you're very welcome to come along. Email Una for further information at ceo@durhamhomeedcommunityhub.com
